In the past it hasn't been easy to heat koi ponds. It meant getting plumbers out to run gas lines or propane lines. Now though with the ThermaKoi line of heaters, life just got easy for you and more comfortable for your koi. The smallest unit the 1.5 KW unit plugs into a regular 115 volt outlet and the 2 larger sizes, 6 KW and 11 KW are hardwired (230 volt) into the built in junction box that comes with the units.
Made of 316 stainless steel and utilizing highly accurate electronic thermostats, these units keep the water temperature constant. It installs easily and quickly. Just plumb in line (2") entering the water at the end with the Safety flow switch and out the other end to the pond. Overload protected and built to last.
Apex Pond Supply offers heaters for koi ponds. We have two sizes available or we can custom build to suit your needs. The heaters are built on a plywood panel that you attach to your wall, (see picture below), or for an additional cost the heater can be custom built into a waterproof enclosure to be installed outdoors. We ship these heaters to all continuous 48 states via a freight carrier.
We build our heating units using a stainless steel shell and tube heat exchanger that separates the heating system water from the pond water so there is no problem with heavy metal toxicity in the pond. The heat exchanger is heated by a Takagi tankless water heater that can run on either natural gas or propane fuel. This unit would be installed on a filter circuit after the pump on the return line back to the pond by installing a bypass, like for a UV light, or all the flow could be run through the heat exchanger if the flow rate is below 50 gpm. It also comes with a digital set point control for setting the pond temperature, and is fully wired and tested before shipping. Upon receiving the unit you would have to hook-up the gas line and install the vent pipe, run PVC pipe from filter circuit to the heat exchanger, and plug in the power. It is recommended that a qualified heating professional install the gas line and vent pipe.
If these systems do not meet your specific needs, we can also custom design a system with radiant heating coils that can be installed either in the concrete shell of a pond during construction or by installing coils into a settling chamber.
